Jurong Frog Farm

Upon arrival, we only see a couple of people playing cards. Never strike us that it is a frog farm!

The frog are located on the right, with breeding area on the left. There are fishes, turtle at the back of the farm.

Huge pond but we are not sure if they are breeding any fishes.

Breeding ponds with coconut trees, a must have for a rural setting.

The frog are kept in compartments. With $1, you can purchase some pellets to feed the frogs. The trick is to throw the pellets about a feet in front of the frogs and they will leap for it.

Hay Dairies Goat Farm @ Kranji Countryside. Goat Milk is sold at the entrance and there is milking session between 9am to 11am. You will not be able to feed or touch the goat here.

Living conditions seems pretty good, spacious with huge fans mounted on the roof frame.

This is as close as you can get to the goat.

Website. Not actually the best place for a family outing considering the scotching heat! We were told that we need 4-5 hrs to cover the premises.

There are observation hides scattered around the reserves. Good as shelters but you need some serious binoculars to see the birds!

Our good old neighbor is actually not too far away! Your mobile starts to roam here!

Day 10 and we are pretty exhausted....
Skipped the big malls and head across the street to the alleys. Map.
Shops lined the alleys with lots of food vendors.

Shopping starts here and stretches as far as the horizon! if there is one!

Turning into another alley...its the same....
Shopaholics, allocate plenty of time here.

The river cruise is a must but Spring time may not be the best season. It's pretty cold on the open deck. There are several route so it's good to know which one has the best view.

Ferry dock at Yeouido.

There a nice park beside the dock and pretty happening on a Sunday afternoon.

The cherry blossom is a bonus after the river cruise.

Heading to EwHa Womans University Area. The area around the university has transformed into a shopping paradise. Clothes can be as cheap as SGD$5!

Remove the Korean signage, its just like Tokyo!

Streets. Freezing pedestrians...

Private housing that looks like our public housing.

This is like the Disneyland of Seoul. Lotte World. Outdoor theme park. Pretty cold to do outdoor rite in the freezing weather.

Indoor theme park...rides for the children, shows and lots of food and shops.You need a minimum of a half day here.

Stayed 1 day in Jeju Island and we are back on the mainland.
Nami Island. The famous scene of Winter Sonata. It was real cold today..it drop till zero degrees.

Nite flight to Jeju Island and it rained the next day.
It was raining and we decided to skip Yongduam rock.

Sungsan Sunrise Peak, Jeju Island. On average, it takes an hour hike up and down the peak. This is considered the top 10 must visit place in SEOUL.

Jeju Folk Village. A total of 117 houses and facilities in a village setting. Very well maintained and nicely landscape.

The exhibits here far exceed my expectation. There a nice garden at the back, give yourself a good 2 hours to roam the premises.

We woke up in Muju Tirol Hotel, a ski resort in the mountains. The bed here is terrific!

Incheon Airport, Seoul. Did not get much sleep on the night flight but the adrenaline just keep the body and mind in place.

Everland. Adult ticket 37,000. It feels weird to visit a theme park just upon touchdown.

Finally, got to collect the camera after 3 weeks.

Test shot. Nikon replace a PCB board to fix the issues I have but they actually found problems with my lens and grip!

Megan on the 7D

To my surprise, the Canon 7D is pretty well built and importantly the grip is firm and adhere to the contour of the hand. Focus on the 50mm F1.8 is slightly slow but it operates rather well under low light. Shutter is soft and crisp, esp when you shoot on its 8fps capabilities.

Breaking away from using our traditional video cameras and switching to the D series today.

Snapshots of today's shoot with Canon 5Dm2 and 7D. The quality is simply awesome.

Some shots of me exported from the 7D movie clip, shot at full HD resolution.

The recent firmware update to v2.03 is a lifesaver. Allow us to capture PAL HD at 25fps and records sound at 48KHz. The shutter-priority AE mode (Tv) and aperture-priority AE (Av) mode in movie mode is another bonus!

Wanted NOT to visit this year IT fair but ended up going down to get some hardware for office use. The fair tends to grow bigger every year and there are also record breaking crowd by the year. Thus it is either there are really good bargains or we Singaporean are running out of places to go!

At 3pm, more crowds are coming in and will peak at 8plus, before the big discouts kicks in before the fair closed!

Fever

The fever persisted into the early hours and she shows no sign of recovery. Temperature hovers to 39-40 degrees.

2am, we rush her to A&E, a blessing its not crowded. She was admitted to the fever unit. Only one parent is allowed so I have to wait...

She has her blood and urine tested, ruled out a few possibilities. She showed me her little finger where the blood was drawn.

Just when we are about to put her to sleep, she suffers a fit. It caught us by surprise. After the fit, she falls into a deep sleep which looks almost like being unconscious. We are also blessed to have a hospital that is within proximity. Another trip to the emergency ward. Another few hours of monitoring....

The need to Gamble

For all the God of gamblers, that's a 2 hours+ queue to get into the casino @ Resort World Sentosa. The casino opens its door on 12 Feb 2010. The queue start from the Bull's Ring (top) and all the way down to the entrance. The catch! Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents pay a $100 levy to get in!

Last day of the CNY break. While most places are still closed, we head down to the Resort World Sentosa. After the causeway, turn left into a gigantic carpark.

Although the hotels are already in operation, the theme park and some shops are still under construction. The escalator, built in a tunnel like enclosure seems to be sucking all our luck the minute we enter the resort.

Chinese New Year Bazaar 2010

It's barely a week to CNY 2010. For most Singaporean, a visit to the goodies bazaar at Chinatown is a yearly event.

In recent years, most of the pastries are imported from Taiwan. They are packed in nicely decorated boxes or you are able to fill as mush as you can into a bag provided by the stall for a fixed price.

Melon seeds, not a favorite for a lazy guys like me.

I guess they are "roasted" into different flavors.

New Year cake or 年糕. Made from glutinous rice, it symbolize a much better year or 年年高升.

Something that I have not seen last year, chopsticks that bears your surname.

(if I have guessed correctly) Preserved pig...can't recall the correct term.

The Pinnacle @ Duxton

Jen's friend is having a house warming at the Pinnacle and we are expecting a visual treat today!
1,848 units in 7 blocks.

The sky bridge linking the towers.

The Pinnacle can be seen as a new milestone for Singapore's public housing. Born out of a International architecture design competition, this building is as unique as it incorporate a continuous sky bridge on the 26 and 50 floor.

Entrance to the unit. I reckon it's some form of ritual to cleanse the house before moving in.
